I’m Anna, I was born in Milan and raised in the province of Lecco Province, surrounded by the authentic beauty of the lake and mountains. Since I was a child, I had a natural passion for hospitality: I used to play with my friends pretending to run a hotel, imagining welcoming guests, traveling, and making people feel at home. What started as a childhood game eventually became the dream of my life.
After spending seven years working in my family’s business, I realized that I needed to follow a different path — something that truly represented who I am. With the support and encouragement of my parents, I found the courage to believe in the dream I had carried within me for so long.
In February 2017, I came across an advertisement for a house in Mandello del Lario almost by chance. There were no detailed photographs, just a picture of the exterior facade, but something inside me pushed me to arrange a viewing. I still remember the exact moment I arrived there: despite the condition of the property, I immediately sensed its incredible potential and understood that this would become my project.
About two months later, major renovation works began. The house had been abandoned for two years, and the journey was far from easy, but every decision, every detail, and every sacrifice had one clear purpose: to create a special place where guests could feel genuinely welcomed.
In August 2018, I welcomed my very first guests, and from that moment a continuous journey of growth, experience, and passion began.
It is from this dream that Maji Como Lake was born. The name holds a very deep part of my personal story and my heart. “Maji,” which means “water” in Swahili, comes from my profound love for Africa — a continent that has always embraced me and that I consider my second home. Kenya, in particular, is a place to which I feel deeply connected, capable of leaving me with emotions, values, and sensations that I carry with me every single day. I wanted to bring a small piece of my beloved Kenya here to Lake Como, creating a name that would perfectly represent the union between two places I love immensely.
Today, the value I believe in most is the human connection between host and guest. For me, hospitality does not simply mean handing over a set of keys, but accompanying every guest throughout their stay and helping them experience the lake in an authentic and personal way. I love sharing recommendations, hidden places, experiences, and atmospheres that only someone who truly lives this territory every day can genuinely tell.
For me, Mandello del Lario is not just the place where I work: it is home, inspiration, and the place where my dream became reality.
